Kia ora, Welcome to RPS

Our School sits below the Remarkable mountain range adjacent to Lake Whakatipu. The school is a central hub for the local Frankton and Kelvin Heights areas which is a wonderfully supportive community.

The Whakatipu Basin has special significance for numerous groups including Ngai Tahu people. We foster multiculturalism and tolerance of others and are committed to an inclusive connected culture by recognising and valuing the beliefs, stories and rituals from the various cultures within our community.

Our learning spaces acknowledge our past and hold this history for our kura. Ahuwhenua (Flora), Whenua (Land), Irirangi (Sky), Wai (Water), Pōhatu (Minerals), Taumata (high gathering point) and Ōterotu (the traditional Māori name for the Kawarau Falls..

In 2020 the school proudly accepted a beautiful taonga from Kai Tahu in the way of our new school Name: Remarkables Primary School, Te Kura Taumata Rau o Te Kirikiri. Representing Taumata rau = remarkable, extraordinary, notable, outstanding - of people. Kirikiri - Frankton
