REPORTING:
All student report comments are available for viewing tomorrow afternoon, Your child’s mid year report will be made available via our HERO App tomorrow afternoon, Friday 27 June, you will receive a HERO Notification when available.
You will notice differences to previous reports. This is due to the implementation of the refreshed curriculum and aligning reporting to this. We hope it is a short-term transition phase while we await assessment tools and parameters for reporting against the new curriculum.
The Ministry of Education has developed 4 draft curriculum descriptors which are statements outlining expected knowledge, skills, and understanding students should acquire within a specific area of learning at a particular year level. These descriptors are for teachers to support consistent reporting to parents across all schools. They are designed to support teachers to determine student progress against the new curriculum and use consistent language to report clearly. In the future these descriptors will be matched with a set of graphics for parents to show the progress and achievement of each child in relation to curriculum expectations in twice–yearly reporting.
Needs Support indicates that your child is needing additional support in order to access the curriculum content at their year level.
Developing indicates that your child, with the support of the classroom teacher, is able to access the curriculum content. Progressing towards meeting expectations for the year level.
Secure indicates that your child is responding confidently and independently to the curriculum content. Consistently completing tasks accurately and independently. Making expected progress to achieve the end of phase progress.
Advanced your child is meeting expectations for their year level and indicates that your child is requiring extension beyond the year level content.
While we acknowledge that these statements do not provide the same clarity and specificity as the previous level and graphs, these statements do provide us with a guide to be explained in more detail at the upcoming Parent Partnership Meetings in which greater depth of information can be shared face to face.
In the Mid Year Report for 2025, you will find
Written comments for ‘Reading', ‘Writing’ and ‘Mathematics’ with a descriptor for how your child is responding to the refreshed curriculum content that has been covered so far this year, but no graphs.
